Equus 3551 Timing light

Equus 3551 Timing light
Only used it once to test it and it worked well, very bright a little clumsy to use but for the few times that I will use it it is a great product. It was excellent value for money I have seen many that don't appear to be the same quality but are twice the price. Cheers DavidY

Equus 3551 Better than Harbor freights

Equus 3551 Better than Harbor freights.
I bought a timing light at Harbor Freights. The one I got was more expensive. It had a dial, but I don't need that, and I heard that the ones with dials can be inaccurate. This one was cheaper, and better quality. Its easier to use too. Equus is is also a well know brand.

Equus 3551 Best for the money.
This is the one you want for easy use. Easy to hook up and easy to see the bright led light. Great Light!!

Equus 3551 Nice timing light

Equus 3551 Nice timing light.
This is a nice timing light for the price. Pretty basic but it does what it's supposed to. Helped me set the timing on my 1971 Karmann Ghia. It would have been nice if it came with a case but that doesn't detract from the functionality of the light.

Equus 3551 Excellent timing light

Equus 3551 Excellent timing light.
This is an excellent basic timing inductive light. The cords are nice and long and I was able to hook up the inductive pickup close to the distributor with no problem.

The shape is good for use but not as good for storage, a decent trade-off. The long narrow barrel let me put the light close to the timing scale/mark and it was readable even on a sunny day. I think this is an improvement on the traditional "T-handle" design. The improvement in my car's performance after adjusting the timing was noticable and more than worth it.

Overall, it seems well made, and I like not having to hold down a trigger. The sleeves on the battery clips were a little loose. I pushed them up higher on the clips and this tightened them up sufficiently.

There is an owner's manual inside the cardboard insert; be sure to remove this. I found it only after I had finished using the timing light, and I noticed several warnings about not connecting the light with the engine running (which I did, but fortunately it did not damage the light).

A storage case would have been a nice feature, but for the price I don't consider not including one a drawback.

Equus 3551 Easy-to-use

Equus 3551 Easy-to-use.
The item seems to be made from good-quality plastic, you feel that it will last long if properly used.
It was great that the light part was flat, this really makes it comfortable to get close to timing marks on my 94 toyota camry, without touching the belts.
The space there is really narrow.

It works perfectly so far, and the only reason I didn't give 5-stars to it, is that there was ~5mm-length "mate" line on the lens, going through the center!
And I noticed it when the item was still in package (it comes within transparent plastic package).
First I thought it's a dirt, but once opened the package I noticed that this is a defect on lens.

Anyway, it is not a microscope so it's not so important issue, it works fine for me and the light is being seen well on shiny summer lunch-time :)

Equus 3551 Timing Light accurate and easy to use

Equus 3551 accurate and easy to use
convivial good, all you have to install it with the car off when you turn it on whenever the engine is automatically turned on but then you can turn on and off.

The length of the cord made the job quite easy and the included instructions were well written. I used the device to realize that the previous owner of my car had replaced the timing belt one cog off and then twisted the distributor to compensate. After realigning the timing belt, I then used the light to place the distributor to the correct position.

Equus 3551 Timing Light Good Product, Right Price.
It's a fine product for someone who occasionally needs a timing light that works. I imagine a professional would want more bells and whistles.
